Virginia Tech Shooting: Shots Fired At Virginia Tech, Gunman Spotted. Gunshots were reported near a parking lot on the Virginia Tech campus on Thursday, according to a Twitter alert issued by the school.

A gunman walked into a parking lot and killed a Virginia Tech police officer who was conducting a traffic stop on campus. Sgt. Robert Carpentieri said it appeared that the shooter was not in the car that had been pulled over.

Two people, including a police officer, were dead after a shooting on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Virginia Tech, the scene of a 2007 massacre in which 33 people were killed, university officials said.
