U.S. Open Tennis Championship is held from August 29 to September 10, 2011. On Sunday afternoon, with the last of Irene’s winds whipping through the grounds, minimal debris could be found around the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center as workers made minor repairs and replaced items around the grounds that had been taken down to avoid hurricane damage for the US Open Tennis.
The crew was hard at work drying courts, replacing the banners on light posts that welcome fans into the gates and getting the television booth outside Ashe hooked up for the first US Open Tennis telecast on Monday.
World number one Novak Djokovic pronounced himself fit for the US Open Tennis on Monday and eager to take the next step after a spirited run to last year's final served as a springboard to his sensational 2011 season. On the women’s side, the looming Serena-Azarenka third-round match-up is one of the most intriguing.
